RR Policy 0-5 : Retention policy

  1. Purpose: The Staff Retention Policy is to ensure that all procedures and benefits pertaining to this policy are carried out in a fair, equitable and transparent manner that will attract and maintain a workforce that is representative of Red Road Health Solutions’ company culture, mission, vision, and values.  This policy will offer a framework within which retention of staff is undertaken within Red Road Health Solutions.  All processes and procedures relating to the Staff Retention Policy should be based on best practice and apply to all employees.

  1. Process: Staff retention is a key part of Red Road Health Solutions’ success. As such, we have undertaken to provide various retention incentives and processes, as follows:

Development Opportunities

Red Road Health Solutions provides a valuable opportunity for staff to enhance their skills and broaden their experience.  Development opportunities can be offered successfully in all roles and at all employment levels as the primary purpose remains the same:

  • To promote the personal and professional development of the individual while meeting the organizational needs of Red Road Health Solutions

  • All opportunities for growth within an employees’ existing role should be promoted and employees should be offered such opportunities with the full approval and ongoing support of the appropriate supervisor.

  • If a position at a higher level opens, employees should be asked to express an interest in the opportunity and, if appropriate, be interviewed to assess their suitability.

Performance Appraisal

The appraisal is a positive event that forms part of the ongoing relationship between employee and supervisor. It takes the form of an annual meeting to discuss achievements, strengths, and areas for development, and to set goals for the year ahead.

However, it is important to remember that the process is more than just this one formal meeting, as the process should be on-going for the whole year. As such, all staff must be appraised annually, as a minimum.

For more information of the appraisal process, please refer to RR Policy 0-7

Communication

Red Road Health Solutions recognizes the importance of good channels of communication and strives to keep employees informed through:

  • Weekly Staff Meetings – Department based weekly communication covering a range of information within the specific department and company-wide.

  • Quarterly Company Brief – Quarterly brief direct from the Head of Operations which is inclusive of all staff via face-to-face meeting, conference call, or video call.

  • Staff Notice Board – All offices will have an employee notice board in the Coffee/Snacks are that distributes pertinent information regarding any company developments that all staff need to be aware of.

  • Employee Satisfaction Surveys – Internal employee satisfaction surveys will be distributed annually and will allow for an anonymous way for employees to express their thoughts on working for Red Road Health Solutions.

  • Opportunities to Raise Issues – All employees have opportunities to raise issues that they have concerns about, in the first instance through their regular staff meetings. If necessary, the concerns can then be escalated through to their supervisor.

  • If, for a valid reason, the employee does not feel comfortable raising an issue with their supervisor, they may go around that supervisor and approach the next lever supervisor with their concerns.

  • Exit Interviews - It is Red Road Health Solutions’ policy that when employees make the decision to resign from the organization, they are given the opportunity to complete an exit interview. The interview will be completed by Human Resources.
